2 Samuel, Ch 4, verses 5 through 7 clearly shows (based on the JW birthday logic), that we shouldn't take noontime siestas either! -

You have a window open for him, to get an open
Very true. My wife would lay the guilt trip on my son for other things, like Scouts. The year before last, I took him up for a small plane ride for his B-day. When we were getting ready to go to the airport, she said something like "you were planning this, weren't you." With a smirk, I said, "yep," and off we went.
Since then, I've shown him some of the news broadcasts about child abuse among the JWs. I've also explained to him how lawsuits work (the basics), plus I've gotten him thinking about the Kingdom Hall finances, and why the new Kingdom Hall hasn't been built yet in our community. He quickly put 2 and 2 together and postulated that maybe all those lawsuits were to blame! He's just 11, but he seems to be 'getting it.' Thankfully, our extended families are not JW, and I've never been one myself.
Just be your boy's best bud, unconditionally. After a while, he'll see the difference between you and mommy. He might start asking, "how come mommy is like this, or that." No need to attack her personally, but you can attack the cult, and with some research, he should eventually 'get it.'

Thanks Secret Slave...you hit the nail on the head, with your well-qualified outlook. IMO.
Any attempt by me, to convey that same level of reasoning, would've likely ended up in a half-drunken rant. Thank you, sir. Hua!

My previous pissing contests with some of you aside, this might be effective, for the 8/8 campaign. If not already brought up:
• an 8/8 website, with easy access to all the forms/templates mentioned above.
* have 'promotional' flyers and wallet sized business cards which can be printed out, and anonymously left in the KH, assembly hall, or convention hall restrooms, or on seat-backs, or car windshields. Keep 'em simple, and include the slogan "8/8...don't hesitate," or something catchy & easy to remember.
* put web address on these flyers.
Note: I'm not a witness, but do have family in. So, I'm just as motivated as many of you. Out.

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

Potty mouth here again. Anyway, a previous thread had mentioned a target of AT LEAST $65,000 in 'damages' to be awarded to INDIVIDUAL abuse victims in Australia, per the Royal Commish. The cumulative amount would be staggering, one would think. Now throw in the possibility that the UK is following suit, Warwick's waste dump issues, and everything else going on, publicity & lawsuit-wise, has my 'holy-sh!t-ometer' hitting the redline like crazy!!! -

Australians don't drink Fosters
To be fair, they did more-so back in the 1970s and early 80s. Also...despite its being mass-produced nowadays, it's not American, rather its under a South African corporation. Heineken has a stake in it too.
But yeah, it is pretty much a cheap beer for the masses, or for dumb Okies like myself.

(BTW - they actually put "Bro" in their contact info - kind of funny)
Yep, and you'll get that at ceremonial events too. We have a Scottish Rite temple nearby which only accepts 'Master Masons' in good standing, from smaller Lodges. They're supposedly a little more formal with the 'brother' terminology, and comprised of an older (more traditional) generation. At our lil' lodge, we're less formal amongst ourselves (younger gen too), unless there's a 'ceremony' of some kind. I know it sounds kind of silly, because sometimes it really is, but more in a frathouse sort of way, NOT like in a literal 'life or death,' "your salvation depends on it" way.
Oh, and at the Lodges, only a little alcohol during dinners, ect. There might be some 'dry' halls as well. On our OWN time, however, it's a different story. As long as you can keep it in check. If you develop a reputation as a bar-room brawler, I'm thinking you might be shown the door.

It's American-made bull-shit. Fosters! That's a good one.
That's so true. When we'd layover in Sydney, a favorite of mine was Victoria Bitter. Crown Lager "Crownie" was another one. Fosters reminds me of Corona in Mexico: nobody there drinks it (well, not many), yet it's the favorite among college spring breakers here in the States.
I just happen to like Fosters because it's dirt cheap where I live, here in Okla-friggin-homa, and it comes in a huge a$$ can.
BTW WingCommander...you mentioned ur condition before, and I ran into a fellow crew who had a similar issue. Check your PM, I sent it yesterday around 0000Z.

About 3 years. My lodge has raised money through community events, to help the foundation to prevent blindness. Also we have a fund to help kids with dyslexia...where we volunteer directly too.
Other lodges might be involved with helping homeless vets, or 'meals on wheels.'
My lodge has also worked with the local PBS affiate to help raise money for the above.
Plus, there's the fraternal aspect of it. The demographics/age might vary. Mine's kind of like a more civilized version of a college frat. Most of us are married, family types, so not too crazy. No philandering, but varying amounts of alcohol, depending on the occasion. Got a few vets, some professionals, some blue collar guys, even a couple of gay dudes. We all give each other hell, and have a few derogatory nicknames for each other. But we're all bros. (We just don't call each other "Bro this & bro that") 😄
